Read Vonne Cayana interview:

Tell us about you, when you start music and what inspired you to do music:

I’m Vonne Cayana & birth named Godwin Raymond. The Akwa-Ibom/Yoruba boy lol. I’m from Akwa-Ibom but was born and brought up in Ibadan.

I started music professionally in 2014. Before then I’ve always been engaged in music, yeah I mean I have been a music coordinator in church and time to time was backing up songs for a couple of musicians both on the stage and in the studio.

There were several moments of people expecting more than I was doing and this is actually one of the thing that gingered me to start doing music professionally and to be honest I never doubted myself so it was soft. Music never failed me…Its the life I chose.

So what kind of music do you do?

Reggae dancehall /Afro-fusion, but then I basically just wanna do good music, whichever way as long as people understands the message.

As a fast rising act what has been your challenges in the music industry so far?

Talking about my challenges in this music scene.
I’d quickly say this “You won’t be seen, heard or believed if you don’t do it first” So all I see is myself trying to be better than I was a minute ago. Life itself is a challenge.

Recently, you won #InfinixNigeria challenge, tell us about it?

Yeah precisely I emerged the grand winner in the just rounded up @infinixnigeria #UnlimitedFunHot9 #InfinixStormX competition with a grand prize worth N360,000k.

Well, commonly like I surf my Instagram to see posts and nice memes to smile to, I came across the post on @infinixnigeria page and I just felt like doing something about it.

There were a lot of participants ‘you know social media cruise na. So at first I was like “if person even do well sev, shey this people go do normal??” lol. So sharply I got the instrumental, listened a few times and when i caught a clue of vibes to deal with i fixed a session with my hommie @jimmidre.

It was almost the deadline so he recorded me asap, @tucolour shot the viral then I posted on my IG and on Xclub too and people got to engage themselves in the post. It was really amazing to me,I mean the turn ups. Thanks to my fans, thanks to my team too. All sponsored by Infinix Nigeria.

How many songs do you have in your name?

I have over 17 songs in my name and so many others I’ve been featured on. Currently got “One Hunnid”, “Spirit & Liquor” out and they’re on several music platforms including Apple Music, Deezer, Audiomack, Google Music and so on.

What really inspired your songs?

It’s all God, everything around me, my environment and the hope of greatness i have in me.

What’s your advice for fast rising artistes like you?

Everybody wants you to be good but never better than them so don’t wait for anyone to help you, help yourself. If you have the fire and you know…let it burn! NoSlackHommie!
